Since last week I am struggling with a shoulder injury related to my rotaror cuff. When I asked my father (he is a physiotherapist) to examine my shoulder he responded by saying: ‘An injury is a chance to show you can overcome set-backs. It’s a period you can use to train alternative muscle groups, reflexes and technique. You should use this period to reflect on your last trainingperiod.’

As a physiotherapist he is used to work with athletes with injuries. Athletes cope differently with injuries but those that challenge the injury properly and try to use the injured period at their advantage often have more success afterwards.

For my trainingschedule the injury results in no swimming for the next 6 weeks… and some alternative evening trainings combined with phyiostherapy to strengthen the muscles.
